The two year post graduate diploma in Business Management is a master level program equipping the participants with an integrated approach to management function and related skills. The programme also provides an opportunity to concentrate in one or two of the functional areas (viz. Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Marketing, Production, Operations & Decision Sciences and Strategic Management). To fulfil the requirement of area(s) of concentration, a participant is required to complete 150 hours of electives offered from that particular area. Participants also have the freedom to choose any of the offered electives that suit individual requirements without an area of concentration.

The PGDBM program is delivered online with 1 week of immersion per year at XLRI Jamshedpur during term I and term VI.

For working professionals, the PGDBM program is best suited as they learn while they earn. Fresh graduates will get more opportunities to learn from the experienced XLRI faculty as well as industry experts and can also interact with very diverse group of participants over an interactive online platform which monitor their learning as well as performance progression during the course.

Learning Method

The course pedagogy involves lectures, case analysis and discussions, hands on exercises, simulations, personal reflections, role plays, tutorials, and peer-to-peer learning through group work.

Online sessions are held on both weekends and on Thursdays from 6.30 PM - 9.45 PM. In addition to these contact hours mostly led by the faculty members of XLRI, the program offers you opportunities for systematic peer learning through flexible interactive sessions scheduled on Sunday morning (11.30 am - 01.00 pm) and Tuesday evenings (8.00 -9.30 PM). You will be working in groups in a monitored platform provided by the institute and groups are allowed to shift the timings of these interactions to any slot convenient to members increasing flexibility of the program. In addition, participants are also offered tutorial assistance on Monday and Friday (from 8.00 -10.00 PM) that can be availed by members on need basis.

We encourage fresh graduates enrolled for the program to use the networks both within the batch and outside to get enrolled for various internship opportunities during the course period to enhance practical exposure and professional abilities. PGDBM Course Plan

The course plan involves 447 hours of core courses across term one to four and 300 hours of elective courses chosen by the participant across term four to six, based on their preference. However, floating of any given elective course or approval to your choices is dependent on the market requirement, minimum number of registrations and other related administrative factors such as scheduling constraints. You need to visit XLRI Jamshedpur for two campus immersion experiences of five days (term I & VI) to interact with the faculty members, peer group, batchmates and others assisted/going to assist you during this life time opportunity.

In addition to these 747 hours across core and elective courses, participants are expected to spend 210 hours at group level to attend Flexible Interactive Sessions (FIS) to complete experiential exercises, class assignments and activities, application exercises, simulations, solving a case in groups, working on a project etc. as per the course outline. Program also offers 288 hours of scheduled tutorial hours spread across the year to provide support to the needy ones on a continuous basis. In addition to these 1245 hours designed and delivered form XLRI, participants are expected to invest 1155 hours as Indicative Self Learning Hours in the form of pre-readings, assignments & individual reflections, individual exercises, e-texts, self-assessment etc. across all courses depending on personal strengths and weaknesses.

Year 1 Courses (387 Scheduled Teaching Hours – 41.5 Credits)

Year 2 Courses (360 Scheduled Teaching Hours – 38.5 Credits)

There are four core courses in Term IV: Business Research Methods, Corporate Ethics, Corporate Sustainability and Operations Research. Participants can enrol for 60 hours of electives. During term V and term VI participants are expected enrol for 120 hours each of electives based on parameters mentioned under course plan.

The program is taught by experienced fulltime faculty of XLRI - Xavier School of Management, select faculty from overseas as well as experienced industry professionals.

PGDBM Program Fee

The fee for the Program is Rs. 14 lakhs, paid over 4 instalments as follows

The fees include the cost of textbooks, reading materials, library resources , accommodation and boarding during the two mandatory campus immersion programs at Jamshedpur but exclude the travel and related costs.

Scholarships

To ensure diversity of the participants, the following scholarships amount shall be adjusted from the total fees. A candidate can avail any two scholarships for women candidate, ST/SC candidate and Tier II &Tier III location.

* *Candidates who have completed their 10th, 12th and Graduation degrees from institutions located in Tier II/III towns are eligible.

Top five performers are eligible for academic scholarship of Rs. 50,000/- at the end of first year.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum aggregate mark of 50% from a recognized University/Institution recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
  • Those completing their final examination and obtaining certificates for final completion by October 31, 2022 may also apply.
  • Candidates with relevant work experience shall be given preference.

Award of Diploma

Participants shall be awarded the “Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (Online)” upon successfully meeting the academic requirements of the program as set by the Academic Council of XLRI Jamshedpur.

Dr Gloryson R B Chalil

Professor of Organizational Behaviour,
XLRI - Xavier School of Managent

Dr. Gloryson Chalil, a Fellow from IIM Bangalore teaches electives such as Strategic HRM, Organizational Change and Development, and other core courses at XLRI. He led HR department in three different sectors (Agriculture, Manufacturing and IT) during his initial stage of career and is also completed various consulting assignments with government and corporate sectors. His current research interests include linkages between HR and organizational performance, human resource architecture, attrition management and engagement initiatives. Dr Gloryson is currently offering popular corporate training programs on HR Analytics and HR Business Partnering.
